As the name indicates, Urban Trad is a traditionally-inspired music band, deeply rooted in the 21st Century. The acoustic instruments (accordion, violin, flutes, etc.) and the singing are supported by a rhythmic section and modern stuff which endow the group with its unique color: a music which suits as well for a rock concert as for a cultural center. The vigor and the musical quality, which emanate from the songs, catch on to people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

The project started in May 2000, when Yves Barbieux gathered to create a first CD (« one-o-four ») a score of artists together, already well-known in the traditional Belgian stage (Orion, Luc Pilartz, Perry Rose, Tom Theuns, Didier Laloy…).

In the beginning, it was meant to be just an album project, but the success encountered during the promotional concerts encouraged Yves in adding a public dimension to Urban Trad with other artists. It’s during the Eurosong festival in Latvia in May 2003 that Urban Trad wins the hearts of the general public. « Sanomi », a song performed in an imaginary language (thus universal), received a surprising second place, just two points from the Turkish winner.

Further to this superb performance, success became a habit: more than 30.000 copies of second album « Kerua » (and single « Sanomi ») were sold in Belgium; the CD was released in several European countries, and the concerts are increasing in Belgium and abroad (Louisiana, The Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Spain…)

Spring 2004 was a turning point: while keeping the modern touch which has made the band’s success, the new repertory isn’t any longer exclusively Celtic-inspired. Yves has indeed drawn his inspiration from all over Europe (Scandinavia, France, Spain, Eastern countries, etc.). The third record whose production has been left in Simon Emmerson’s hands, from the English group « Afro Celts Sound System» will be released at the end of September 2004.

Eurovision Song Contest

Urban Trad participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, where they ended second with the song Sanomi, a modern folk song with vocals in an imaginary language. A few months before the contest, it was decided that singer Soetkin Collier could not participate, apparently because she had extreme right sympathies in the past.

As a result of this, two versions of the song exist on record. One was the standard album version (4:08) and another version was released on single and on the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 collaboration album. Often known as the Eurovision edit, it cut down to 3:01 and it had Soetkin Collier’s vocals removed.

Later that year, after an investigation, it was concluded that these accusations by the national security, were exaggerated and based on outdated information.

V is an American science fiction television series first broadcast on ABC on November 3, 2009.^[1][2] A re-imagining of the 1983 miniseries created by Kenneth Johnson, the new series chronicles the arrival on Earth of a technologically advanced alien species who ostensibly come in peace, but actually have sinister motives.^[3] V stars Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Scott Wolf, and is executive produced by Scott Rosenbaum, Scott Peters, and Jace Hall.^[4]

Fringe is an American science fiction television series co-created by J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The series follows a Federal Bureau of Investigation “Fringe Division” team based in Boston, Massachusetts under the supervision of Homeland Security. The team uses unorthodox “fringe” science and FBI investigative techniques to investigate “the Pattern”, a series of unexplained, often ghastly occurrences that are happening all over the world. The show has been described as a hybrid of The X-Files, Altered States, The Twilight Zone, and Dark Angel.

The series premiered in North America on September 9, 2008, on the Fox network. Fringe was part of a Fox initiative known as “Remote-Free TV”. Episodes of Fringe were longer than standard dramas on current network television. The show ran with half the commercials during the first season, adding about six minutes to the show’s runtime. When the show went to a commercial, a short bumper aired informing the viewer of roughly how much time commercials will consume before the program resumed. On October 1, 2008, Fringe’s first season was extended to 22 episodes. This was then cut back to 20 episodes with the season finale airing May 12. The series was renewed for a second season. Season 2 premiered September 17, 2009. However, Fox’s “Remote-Free TV” trial has not continued past the first season.

FlashForward is an American science-fiction television series, which premiered on ABC on September 24, 2009. It is loosely based on the 1999 novel Flashforward by Canadian science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer. On December 3, 2009, ABC abruptly placed the show on hiatus until March 4, 2010, explaining the break would allow the show to run the remaining 12 episodes uninterrupted, as well as avoid having to compete with the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Premise

A mysterious event causes nearly everyone on the planet to simultaneously lose consciousness for 137 seconds, during which people see what appear to be visions of their lives approximately six months in the future—a global “flashforward”. A team of Los Angeles FBI agents, led by Stanford Wedeck (Vance) and spearheaded by Mark Benford (Fiennes), begin the process of determining what happened, why, and whether it will happen again. Benford contributes a unique perspective on the investigation; in his flashforward, he saw the results of six months of investigation that he had done on the flashforward event, and he and his team use those clues to recreate the investigation.

The team investigates a number of events related to the flashforward, including “Suspect Zero”, who did not lose consciousness during the event, the sinister “D. Gibbons”, and a similar mass loss of consciousness in Somalia in 1991. Meanwhile, personal revelations contained within the flashforwards occupy the personal lives of the principal characters. Mark Benford sees his alcoholism relapsing, his wife sees herself with another man, and other characters grapple with similarly unexpected or surprising revelations in their flashforwards.

Las Vegas - 1 season

Las Vegas was an American television series that aired on NBC from September 22, 2003 to February 15, 2008. The show focuses on a team of people working in the fictional Montecito Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada—dealing with issues that arise within the working environment, ranging from valet parking and restaurant management to casino security. The series originally aired on Monday nights, though NBC later moved the series to Friday nights first to 9:00 p.m. EST/8:00 p.m. CST and then to 10 p.m. EST/9:00 p.m. CST. The show is currently in syndication and airs in the United States (on TNT). NBC announced on April 2, 2008, that the show would not be returning for the next season.

Background

The series originally centered around Ed Deline (James Caan), a strict ex-CIA officer who went from Head of Security to becoming President of Operations of the Montecito, whose job is to run the day-to-day operations of the casino. Following his departure from the series in Season 5.

Former Marine Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel), Ed’s former protege, has become the Montecito’s new President of Operations.

Other characters that work with McCoy include current Head of Security and Surveillance, and former Head Valet, Mike Cannon (James Lesure) who plays an integral role in investigations due to his engineering degree from MIT.

Danny’s childhood friend and ex-fiancée, Mary Connell (Nikki Cox), worked at the Montecito first as Event Director then got promoted to Hotel Manager in the third season until finally leaving in the fourth season.

Nessa Holt (Marsha Thomason), the former Montecito Pit Boss and “best Pit Boss in Las Vegas” before leaving at the end of the second season to live with her sister and father.

Sam Marquez (Vanessa Marcil), a manipulative businesswoman and self-proclaimed “best casino host in the world”, has only one interest: to get high rollers to play at the casino.

Ed’s daughter Delinda Deline (Molly Sims) serves as the Entertainment Manager, and runs all the food and beverages in the casino. She is currently living with Danny after previously having a romantic connection with him early in the first season.

The ownership of the casino has changed quite a bit with A.J. Cooper (Tom Selleck) as the sixth owner. NBC recently hinted at the possibility of putting Mike Cannon (Lesure) into a spinoff of the Las Vegas series. TNT has been airing reruns of the series since early 2008. TNT and NBC have also been rumored to be in negotiations for TNT to pick up the series and air new episodes on the network.
